I don't know FreeBSD but I work at Crystalfontz.

If you aren't sure if the display is damaged or just set to an odd
configuration, an email to support at can maybe help you
determine that for sure.

It sounds like you are outside of the warranty period but we're still happy
to try and walk you through some troubleshooting measures.

Here's a link to what they *should* look like:

These aren't photoshopped other than to crop them and clean out the
mounting holes and whatnot.

Hope that helps, good luck.

> From the man-page:
> screen_set #id [-name name ] [-wid width] [-hgt height] [-priority
> prio] [-duration int] [-timeout int] [-heartbeat mode] [-backlight
> mode] [-cursor mode] [-cursor_x xpos] [-cursor_y ypos]
> Initialize a screen, or reset its data.
> Valid heartbeat mode values (for the screen_set command) are:
> on Turn backlight on.
> off Turn backlight off
> toggle Turn backlight off when it is on and vice versa.
> open Use client's backlight setting. This is the default.
> blink Blinking backlight
> flash Flashing blacklight
