[Lcdproc] Driving ST7066U

You might want to try the sdeclcd driver. It is for normally for Watchguard
firewall appliances, which are reportedly made by Lanner. There are no
parameters to configure, it is purpose built for the parallel port and a
20x2 LCD. Best of luck, keep us posted.
