Thanks Stefan for pointing that out. I found many "clients" (some of
them plugins for amarok) that can be used with Amarok 1.X. In case of
the single scripts, they use DCOP to get the data from the media player.

Amarok 2.X (which I was searching a client for) no longer uses DCOP but
dbus. Meanwhile I have written a client in C++ (using Qt4 for dbus- and
network-communication) that works just fine. Will be released the next days.
