FreeBSD is in the process of merging in a much improved USB stack from
perforce to CURRENT svn. It's been roughly a month since I submitted
the patch, and it appears that it got lost in the noise... At least
it's in a PR and the link is available on both the LCDproc and CURRENT
mailing lists.

The FreeBSD HID patch seems to have resolved Ernie's issue (This was
resolved off-list).
