A short follow-up to myself:

The "device not configured" messages in truss you see arise from libusb
scanning the busses for usb devices. You will see a lot of them.

If you save the truss output to a file and send it to me, it might be

You can ignore the above. The dependency problem was valid for 0.5.2
(the version the port is based on). The cvs version does not need
additional packages beside libusb. It will be build by default in the
next version of lcdproc as well (I just checked this).
