[Lcdproc] LCDproc as sole interface to the system

I've seen appliances whose basic configuration (IP address, DNS,
gateway, etc.) is done via a very small LCD display and a 5-key keypad
(up, down, left, right, enter). With left/right one navigates through
the characters, with up/down the characters are changed (a,b,c,d...) and
enter finalizes the change. A very simple, flat menu presents all
options to the user.

Is that doable with LCDproc? I've seen hardware that has the
capabilities described above:

But the problem is, with LCDproc, can i use the keypad to move the
cursor around and change characters, then once X is pressed, give the
setting to the system to apply it?

Essentially, i want to use it to do pre-configuration to systems,
without the need to use a monitor and a keyboard (just enough so that
they have the correct network settings, then i can SSH into them
remotely).
